GOALS:

Reduce regional contribution to climate change by achieving reduction in carbon emissions in spite of ongoing growth and development. Increase amount of local renewable energy produced in the region.

Strategies:
1. Develop programs to help residents, businesses and visitors design, build and retrofit structures for maximum energy efficiency.
2. Quantify energy savings through monitoring these programs.
3. Partner with appropriate businesses to expand local renewable energy production.
4. Encourage local governments to adopt quantifiable energy use reduction goals.

ACTIONS:
Accomplishments to date:
☼ Presented collaborative project list to San Miguel Power Association and received approval to work with them on green programs
☼ Began “Low Carbon Diet” educational series to educate citizens on ways to reduce their carbon emissions
☼ Hosted booths at Telluride Bluegrass Festival and San Miguel Energy Forum/Norwood
☼ Shared panel on Local Renewable Energy at MountainFilm with over 50 in attendance
